Between 1999 and 2002, the GWYC (formally the Yamhill Basin Council) partnered with volunteers from RARE to conduct assessments of eight sub-watersheds within the Greater Yamhill Watershed. These assessments were written using the Oregon Watershed Assessment Manual, (OWAM), and contain information gathered on historical and current watershed conditions, including: channel habitat types, vegetation, riparian and wetland conditions, channel modifications, sediments, hydrology and water use, water quality, and the state of fish habitat in the basin.
Information was collected from a variety of sources, including local residents, local, state, and federal resource managers, and the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde. The project would not have been possible without this assistance.
